There are some extremely dangerous places on the planet that most of us know very little about. However, if you are a thrill seeker, then you might be interested in a few of the places that we have listed in this article as they are by far, five of the most dangerous places you can head to on the planet.

Lake Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo: This lake is located just along the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda and it is well-known as one of the great lakes of Africa. Across its span of more than 2700 square miles, there is around 2.3 trillion cubic feet of methane gas trapped beneath the surface. If this gas was ever to get out, it could threaten the lives of millions of people in the area. In fact, in the 80’s, there was over 1700 deaths when some of the gas escaped. Definitely not for the faint hearted.

Grand Cayman: The Cayman Islands are situated around 150 miles from Cuba in the Caribbean Sea and therefore, they have a reputation as being a playground for the rich and famous. However, a lot of people don’t know that these islands are known to locals are the hurricane capital of the world. Due to their location, it is said that on average; Grand Cayman (which is the largest of the Cayman Islands) is hit by a hurricane once every 2.16 years. The most well-known storm to hit in recent years is probably Hurricane Ivan.

Sahara Desert: There is no doubt that this has to be one of the most dangerous places on the planet, simply due to the inhospitable nature of the place. The Sahara desert is located in Africa and spans across hundreds of square miles. The desert is actually 3,000 miles plus from east to west which means that getting lost in this hugely inhospitable area will almost certainly not be a good thing. There is no water, buildings or food for hundreds of miles are temperatures can soar one way in the day, and the other way at night.

Tornado Alley: Tornado Alley is located in the North of the United States of America and it is well-known as an area where tornadoes are extremely common. There is not an officially defined area for Tornado Alley, but it is generally thought to be the area between the Rocky Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains. Many tornado’s hit the area of Tornado Alley every year and it is very popular among storm chasers.

The Amazon Rainforest: This is an area in South America and covers more than 2.1 million square miles with tropical rainforest. There are many dangers of this area including the chances of sickness due to malaria carrying mosquitoes and many other infections. The weather is also a problem in this part of the world as there are many unpredictable and dangerous conditions. Wildlife is another area of danger in the Amazon as there are many venomous creatures such as snakes and frogs.
