With so many destinations in and around the city, every one is sure to find something interesting to do. Here are some of the most popular things to do in San Francisco.

Bay cruise

This is the perfect way to enjoy the city’s skyline. The cruise takes you around Alcatraz and then under Golden Gate Bridge. On a clear day, it is a beautiful experience. It might get a little cold on the ship so make sure you dress accordingly.

Cable car ride

One cannot miss this unique experience in the city. It is rightly called the moving landmark of San Francisco. It is an enjoyable experience as the car clatters on the hills. Try to get a window seat to enjoy the interesting ride.

Great food

San Francisco has the reputation of being a food lovers’ paradise. It has a slew of Michelin star rated restaurants in and around the city limits. Besides the fine dining scene, the city boasts of umpteen numbers of excellent places to eat including many on the Fisherman’s wharf, in China town and North beach. It has great breakfast and lunch places too, and do not forget the mind-blowing street food.

Lombard Street

Termed as the “Crookedest” street, it is a long winding ride with over half a dozen sharp turns. The entire route is lined with beautiful flowers. Remember it is a one-way street.

China Town

It is a great area to spend a couple of hours, an afternoon, a whole day…..whatever you like. You can just stroll around, click a few pictures, buy souvenirs and eat at the myriad food stalls or you can soak in the oriental experience with herbalists and tea stores that delight.

Exploratorium

Is a hands-on museum for science buffs? It is the perfect place if you want your child to develop love for the sciences. It is situated in the picturesque Palace of Fine Arts.

Golden Gate Bridge

Seeing is believing. Words do not do justice to this magnificent structure. It is among the most photographed landmarks in the city and no one can go back without a couple of pictures of the bridge.

Golden Gate Park

This is larger than the famous Central Park, New York. Enjoy the outdoors and check out the various spots inside the park. You can even see buffalo herd, Dutch Windmills, Japanese tea Garden, Botanical Garden, Conservatory of Flowers and California Academy of Science inside the park. Visit to spend a couple of hours or for a picnic with the family.

Alcatraz

No visit to the city can be complete without paying a visit to the notorious Alcatraz Island. You need half a day to explore this former prison. Take a ferry out to it and buy yourself an audio tour. You can self-guide yourself through the prison and peek at the life of the prisoners held here.
