Fashion Guest Post: London Vintage Designer Bargains

For most fashion lovers you can’t get better than London. Let’s face it the capital has it all from fair markets and vintage shops to high street retailers and luxury brands. However, what has pricked our ears is the quality of vintage finds London has to offer. We’re sure to have all heard of friends buying vintage designer clothing at affordable prices, but where on earth do they find these gems? Below you will find our favourite vintage boutiques, some famous for their range in high-end fashion and others for their affordable prices.

Lucy in Disguise

This is one vintage shop that we’re sure everyone has heard about because it was set up by none other than Lily Allan and her half-sister Sarah Owen. Located in Central London, Lucy in Disguise showcases a collection that amalgamate quality vintage clothing, vintage designer pieces and retro make-up and hair styling. Why you would ever want to shop anywhere else is beyond us. However, it isn’t the best place to come if you have a budget as clothing retails from £80-£450, but if you live in London and like the idea of hiring a vintage piece this shop is calling your name. 48 Lexington Street, London, W1F 0LR

Rellik

Known to attract fashion followers from across the world and a few famous faces, Rellik can not only offer you affordable vintage pieces and one-off vintage designer garments, but also a bit of celebrity spotting. From one-off and well-preserved pieces to retro clothing that will bring your wardrobe back to life, there is a something for everyone. Whether you have a budget or your partner is treating you to a shopping trip you’re sure to enjoy digging around for the best bargain. 8 Golborne Road, North Kensington, W10 5NW

Shikasuki

At Shikasuki you can find labels such as Ossie Clarke, Biba, Zandra Rhodes and many others that line the well presented rails. This is a well-known vintage boutique that not only offers you some of the best vintage clothing finds in London, but an array of homeware, stationary, shoes and accessories. There is a treasure trove waiting for you to discover and going by the reviews we’ve heard, you won’t be disappointed.  67 Gloucester Avenue, Primrose Hill, NW1 8LD

Dalston Oxfam

Charity shops in London are excellent for finding designer vintage pieces and we’ve heard rumours that an Alexander McQueen suit was recently purchased for a staggering £50. If time is on your side, charity shops such as Dalston Oxfam could provide you with the greatest vintage finds that will have you telling everyone about for years to come. As well as clothing, shoes and accessories there are some great homeware, music records and books to unearth. 570 Kingsland Rd, E8

Cornucopia

This is one place that you have to visit and soon. For over 40 years Cornucopia has dressed London’s finest in designer and retro clothing, but will soon be closing down. It is sad news, but to put a positive spin on it, it means that his vast stock’s prices has been reduced resulting in crazy prices that you’re sure to go mad for. As well as retro clothing that can date back to the Victorian era you will also find designer labels such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Lacroix and Yves Saint Laurent. Date of closing: Yet to confirm 12 Upper Tachbrook St, SW1

With these destinations in mind, you have some serious shopping to get on with. Our top vintage boutiques offer you the best of both worlds, retro clothing and designer clothing, but at affordable prices (perhaps not Lily’s shop).
