Travel: Swimming with Dolphins Around the World

Dolphins

Have you ever lived out a fantasy? It’s probably a lot different to what you’re doing right now, but just because it seems like something most people only dream about doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Some people think climbing the world’s highest mountain is the ultimate rush. For others it’s trekking deep inside tropical jungles. Then you have the people who spent too much time watching Flipper when they were children and they want to go swimming with dolphins.

If you’ve never swam with them before you’ll be surprised how amazing it can be. Not only because you can to play around with these beautiful creatures, but because you can do it in some of the most beautiful locations on the planet. No fantasy is complete without the location and swimming with dolphins at your local Sea World definitely doesn’t qualify as a real adventure. Before you get any strange ideas of far off locations we can look at 5 of the best in the world right now.

Cancun, Mexico

Cancun has so many things going for it and an abundance of dolphins is definitely one of them. Either choose to swim with them in the parks, or if you’d prefer you can head to the nearby Riviera Maya. There’s plenty of other things you can be doing at night when you’re in Cancun, which I’m sure you already know about. Just don’t take the family down during Spring Break, or the dolphins won’t be the only things shooting liquid from their mouth.

Sharm El Cheikh, Egypt

At one side of Africa, you have the great white sharks. I don’t know about you, but that sounds a little scary. Up near the north you can swim in the Red Sea with a lovely population of spinner dolphins. The ones who love to jump around and entertain you with their special little tricks. To make your adventure even more exciting you can obviously go and explore everything Egypt has to offer, including the Pyramids and amazing museums with some of the greatest archeological finds the world has ever seen.

Dubai, UAE

Dubai is fast becoming the greatest place in the world to do anything. Take a dip in the water with dolphins once you’ve skied on the first ever ski slope in the middle of the desert. Because Dubai doesn’t do anything in half measures this could possibly be one of the most extravagant places to go swimming with them in the world. Where else could you sleep in your underwater hotel room when you’re done? This is one adventure you’ll definitely need to have plenty of money for if you’re going crazy on the hotel.

Hawaii, USA

Hawaii is always going to be an easy place to swim with dolphins because it’s close to home and surrounded by water. Hopefully you spend time on the islands already and it won’t be such a big deal flying down there. As with most popular places you can go into a park to see them, or jump on a big charter boat and they’ll take you around to where the wild ones play and you can cross your fingers they’re around that day.

Tamarin, Mauritius

If you jump in a speedboat you’ll be taken out into the water to spend hours with the bottlenose and spinner dolphins. You don’t get more tropical than Mauritius and it definitely counts as an adventure of a lifetime. The whole trip will cost you less than a hundred bucks and hopefully you find a huge pod with lots of dolphins that will entertain you. Learn a few tricks to play with them before you go and you’ll be laughing all day.
