Fashion: The Subtlety of Men’s Designer Fashion

Men’s designer fashion is a wonderful thing, many do not understand it, many spend hours looking good and talking about looking good.

Fit, is a huge part of the fashion world. You could spend thousands on a piece of clothing but if it isn’t the proper fit it will look abysmal. There are many subtle points in which you can adopt into your routine when trying on clothes. For example, a dress shirt should graze your neck without constricting it, your cuffs should meet the point where your palm begins and shirt length should be such that you can bend and make natural movements without it coming out of your pants.

The majority of mainstream fashion designers focus their design on women’s fashion giving the men a slightly smaller pool to choose from. However, there are a lot of mens fashion designers in the luxury fashion designing sector which can provide some high class clothes. This means that to stand out from the crowd you need to make yourself different; overdoing this can be quite easy which is why you need to stick to the subtleties.

These subtleties can be anything from wearing your tie bar in the middle of your tie instead of at the bottom or top. There are many ways in which you can improve your look dramatically by following a few simple subtle rules. For example with suits you should match the colour of your shoes with the colour of your suit.

Now we get on to how expensive clothes can be for the gentleman who wants to take his fashion up a notch. Men, generally, are in a mental state of “a shirt should not be above £20” or “a pair of trousers for only £7, I can’t pass up on that”. Getting out of that frame of mind can be hard, however, once out of it you are ready to start thinking in the way of “is this shirt going to improve my look by £75?” This instantly makes you look for the perfect piece of clothing that you will spend more money on to improve your look by more than the value of the item.

As many people who aren’t fashion gurus know some, possibly most, designer clothes are obvious that they are designer. This is due to high class fashion being very favourable to pushing boundaries of traditional fashion and creating unique pieces of clothing. However, within the market subtlety is key.

All in all you are paying the extra money for designer clothes, not for quality, but for specificity. The sheer diversity of designers from Rick Owens’ ‘Gothninja’ style to Patrik Ervells simple light shaded, loose silhouette look gives you a huge choice when deciding what to wear and gives you the opportunity to wear exactly what you want.
