If you’re lucky enough to be jetting off on a beach holiday in the next few weeks, you’ll undoubtedly be thinking about what to wear while you’re sunning yourself on some far-flung shore.
Even if you aren’t actually leaving the country for your amazing break, you’ll still need to find something great to wear. There could be nothing worse than arriving at the beach and realising you’ve forgotten the essentials, so think ahead to ensure you’re the most stylish sunbather there. Here are five of the best beach styles for men and women at the moment:

1) Mismatched tops and bottoms
At the moment, this is an incredibly on-trend look, and it can definitely set you apart from the crowd. Whether you have two bikinis that you absolutely love and which would go great together, or you buy two that you think will match, you should certainly rock this look this summer. Try wearing a leopard print bikini top and some plain red bottoms, or a bikini top and short-shorts.
2) Cut-out bathing suits
There’s nothing sexier than a cut-out bathing suit. If you want to strike a good balance between fashion and functionality, this is the best option. You can get swimsuits that have cut-outs on the stomach or the back, or you might prefer ones with cut-outs down the sides to show off your beach ready body.
3) Beach cover-ups
If you’re heading for the bar, or you just want to get out of the sun for a few minutes, a beach cover-up can be ideal. You could wear a maxi-dress, a playsuit, a kaftan or a simple sundress that you can quickly throw on. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s light, bright and stunning to look at!
For the Gents
4) Swim briefs
Here’s one for the gents. Swim briefs, otherwise known as Speedos, became hugely popular during the London Olympics and the hype surrounding them is yet to die down. If you want to wear swimming briefs, you’ll need to make sure you’re confident enough – they don’t really leave much to the imagination! As long as you’ve got the guts, they’ll be a knockout at the beach.
5) Trunk shorts
These trunks are a little larger than swim briefs, so gents that don’t like to be quite as on show are sure to prefer them. They’ll still make the most of your beach body though, and they have a great retro feel to them, which is massive at the moment.
6) Board shorts
Ideal for guys that really don’t like wearing anything too tight, boardshorts give off that great surfer vibe and are perfect for 2013. These designers are fantastic for all ages as well, so both young and older guys will be able to rock them. You can either go for the classic Hawaiian print, or choose something a little more low key.
