Travel Guest Post: Luxury in Lindos

 

Rhodes in the 1960’s attracted many of the wealthy and famous; everyone from Pablo Picasso to John Lennon found this a desirable location. Recently, Rhodes has become a very affordable holiday destination and has seen a large increase in tourism. This doesn’t mean that it has lost touch with its luxurious side.

The first adult only hotel in Rhodes, the Lindos Blu hotel will serve your every need if you choose to spend your time here. A private car will pick you up from the airport, and then you’ll be taken to your room. King size beds, Jacuzzis, private heated pools and terraces to admire the beautiful views from are available here.

You’ll be able to choose to have your food cooked the way you want it, while dining under starlight in the gourmet restaurant here, with the option of these meals being brought up to your room through 24 hour room service. You’ll be able to get light snacks as well as cocktails at the poolside bar. You’ll get access to the gym, sauna and steam room included in the price of your stay, and if you fancy something a little different, the spa here offers many different treatments for you to try, including hot stone massage, and reiki.

Just a 2 minute drive away from Lindos Blu you’ll be able to experience something truly unique at Lindos Ice Bar. You can try some of the bars finest cocktails while admiring the Acropolis, or if you’re feeling a little more adventurous go for a 40 minute trip into an all ice bar, carved entirely from ice. The temperature is kept at -6 degrees all year round, so it’s not a trip for everyone. You’re provided with protective clothing too keep you warm.

If you wanted to have something a little warmer than -6 degrees, then a 5 minute walk from your hotel, you’ll come across Vlycha Beach. Crystal clear waters as well as golden sand are plentiful here. If you want to take part in some water sports here, you’ll be happy. You can take part in many sports, such as banana boat rides and snorkelling. The best time for swimming in the sea would be during the hottest months of July and August. Rhodes in general is a very warm and sunny island however, and will be warm even in the months of December, although you should expect some rain in these times.

When it comes to exploring more of Rhodes, you’ll want to see The Old Town. It’s about an hour drive away from the Lindos blue hotel. The Old Town has a lovely mix of old and new. You’ll be walking through a piece of history when you go through here, the oldest medieval town in Europe; you’ll see many historical remains around. Best of all, you’ll find boutiques and designer shops hidden away in the streets, making experiencing the history a little lively.

There are many more attractions to be seen on this luxurious and relaxing island, everything from history to nature all just waiting to be discovered on your holiday to Rhodes.
