Interview with The SleepKeepers

A drummer straight from the heart of Japan, a guitar player from a war zone and a lead singer from the capital of Ukraine are the pulse of Sleep Keepers, alternative rock band living in Ukraine.

What you have always wanted to know about Sleep Keepers:

What is your fashion style?

Ilya: Similar to classic rock style – some jeans, leather jackets, black t-shirts, etc.

Tala: Extremely diverse – I may be dressed in a red evening gown today, sporty outfit yesterday and then unisex suit tomorrow. Can’t stand wearing the same clothes every day!

Toshi: I like dark colors. Mostly seen in black and white. And I am a big fan of jackets.

Does it change for stage and everyday?

Tala: Totally. What I hate most is that my stage outfit tends to be very uncomfortable – too tight, too short, a bit too open… It may look awesome on stage but maan sometimes I wish I could just put on a black tee and jeans and rock it 🙂

Ilya: Generally not, I may just wear a few more accessories on stage.

Toshi: It all depends on the venue and the mood of the set list.

What was your favorite photoshoot?

Ilya: Probably the very first one cause it was inside!

Tala: Awww I know where that is coming from, we always have extreme conditions on set – rain, snow, frost, recently we’ve had to do some climbing… Come to think of it, we’ve had it all, except for an underwater shoot and a sandstorm lol

Toshi: Yeah, we once had a photo shoot in the rain and real cold weather, that was intense but somehow exciting. One of my favorite for sure!

Who do you hope to work with?

Ilya: With Mike Shinoda!

Tala: With a few famous American directors for a music vid.

Toshi: I love to work with anyone inspiring, no matter who they are.
What is your favorite food?

Ilya: Barbecue!

Toshi: I love ramen and sushi.

Tala: Barbecue and sushi that I can steal from the guys! 🙂
Any cool hobbies?

Ilya: Sports, working out.

Tala: Snowboarding, dancing, writing, paragliding.

Toshi: Photography, cooking.

What motivates you?

Ilya: Everybody we’re meeting down the road.

Toshi: Actually, anything and everything motivates me when I am in the right mood.

Tala: I’m a workaholic, no extra motivation needed. Having wasted a day, I always feel way too frustrated and depressed.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Toshi: In a practice room, 300 bpm single stroke roll!

Ilya: On a world tour. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Tala: Hmm in the studio 24/7, recording our 5th album to top the charts, drinking coffee to keep going. Oh, and when on tour, hiding my food from Ilya and Toshi somewhere on our tour bus lol

What is one thing we don’t know about the band?

Ilya: We don’t drink:)

Tala: We just don’t drink together! 🙂

Toshi: And we never really sleep!
