How to Have the Ultimate Luxurious Road Trip

There are so many beautiful and wondrous locations in North America that can only be explored on the road. Even then, more can only be seen when hiking, after traveling via road. In short, to really see and experience the utter beauty that Canada, the USA, and Mexico have to offer you need to pack up a vehicle of your choice and head out into the open countryside.

Road trips can further be quite luxurious. Rather than a cramped experience with everyone frustrated and angry at each other, you can make it into an adventure worth remembering for the rest of your life. All you need to do is plan accordingly and know how to spice up any road trip with thrills and luxuries.

Pick Your Wheels Carefully

Your vehicle must be chosen carefully. It doesn’t not and should never automatically be the vehicle you own now. There are many rental options out there for both cars and for RVs so that you can pick the perfect vehicle that will keep you and all of your passengers comfortable. All you need to do is search online and work out what the pickup and drop-off system is like.

Pick Your Passengers Carefully

Some people can be the best of friends and still get at each other’s throats during a road trip. The reasons you are friends with that person are completely irrelevant, because when you are in close-proximity it is more how compatible you are living together. Even if you have known each other your whole lives, your first road trip can be trying.

To ensure you pick your passengers perfectly you will want to be honest about the type of trip you are going on and go through each person’s habits. By creating a system to cohabitate the car in advance everyone can play nice and get through the stressful periods of a road trip easier.

Road Tripping is More Than Just Getting From A to B

Another thing to remember about planning the ultimate luxurious road trip, is that road trips are never about getting from point a to point b. Choose the scenic route, stop often, and see the countryside for yourself.

Have Fun

When you have fun on the road there is no better trip to be on than that of a road trip. There are so many ways that you can have fun road tripping as well. If you love off-roading, for example, there are trails and parks available to tear up and enjoy the thrill of the wild lands all across the continent. You can even join the jeep badge honor program and make friends doing what you love. Pack Well

Another key step to planning a comfortable and enjoyable road trip is to pack well.

1.    Food

You want food that is easy to eat and not too messy. Chips can be a good idea, until you look at your back seat and see the many miniscule crumbs that have fallen from your passengers trying to eat in a moving vehicle.

Instead, try protein or yoghurt bars. Jerky and other finger food that does not crumble easily are also ideal for road trips. Save the hot meals and complicated foods for when you’ve parked and are ideally being served in a restaurant.

2.    Drinks

Staying hydrated is key when in a car, especially considering most road trips are done during the summer months.

3.    Comfort

Pillows and blankets can be a god-send in a car when there isn’t a lot of opportunities to stop and enjoy yourself on the road. You will want to be careful not to overstuff your car, however. Only pack what can comfortably fit in the trunk when you are not using it.

4.    Clothes

Unless you are renting out an RV, you and your passengers will want to limit the amount of luggage you bring. You don’t have to worry about carrying it of course, but taking up space in your trunk means risking items overflowing into the passenger side of the car. Cramped conditions are the perfect recipe for disaster, so ensure everyone’s belongings comfortably fit in the trunk.

5.    For the Car

The vehicle you take needs a few supplies as well. To start, take it to the garage to get it tuned and checked over. Then you will want to ensure it has a spare tire, and fill up a portable gas container just in case. If traveling through the United States, getting a toll pass can also be useful.

Make Stops

When creating a route for your road trip, choose the scenic route that offers the most opportunities to stop and enjoy the sights and towns along the way.

Book Hotels

Unless you are traveling in an RV or are intending to glamp, chances are you will want to book hotels along the way. Booking in advance is a good way to save money, just remember to give yourself enough time in-between hotels to enjoy the road on the way.

Treat Yourself

If there’s a remote spa resort along the way, treat yourself. If there is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, do it. Road trips are about freedom, but it is the adventures and experiences you have along the way that will make it truly memorable.

The key to a successful road trip is to plan. This doesn’t mean that spontaneity needs to be taken out of the picture, just that a few things need to be sorted in advance. What you pack, what vehicle you bring, and even where rest stops, gas stations, and other amenities are on the roads are all easy to prepare. The last thing you want is to be stuck on a road with someone desperately hungry and not having anything in the car with the nearest anything over twenty miles away.

Planning is crucial so that you can enjoy your road trip spontaneously and have the adventure of a lifetime in luxury.
