Travel: PackForAPurpose.org

Next time you jet off to a far away land, consider making a difference in the lives of children in your visit. PackForAPurpose.org was started by Rebecca and Scott Rothney during their first trip to Africa. They realized that while the airlines had luggage allowances of 100 pounds, you were only allowed 40 pounds on Safari. That extra space was eventually used to bring much needed supplies to school children. The motto of the company is ” Small space. Little effort. Big Impact”. With just five pounds, you can supply a community with 400 pencils or 5 deflated soccer balls. If 500 people packed just 5 pounds of supplies in their luggage, 1.25 tons of supplies could be donated.

Working with Pack For A Purpose is very easy. On the website, go to the “Select Your Destination” link. Choose from 10 different sub links of countries, then the destination you will be staying. The link then highlights the needs of the school they support, and gives you tips on packing. Small space. Little Effort. Big Impact.
