Are weeks of 90+ degree temperatures almost too much to handle? You know the summer months of July and August are approaching, which means now is the right time to start thinking about a summer getaway. A week or two in these five temperature-moderate cities can help take away the stress of a hot summer.
Anchorage

Summer is the perfect time to visit The Last Frontier, with plenty of Anchorage hotels to stay at while you’re off exploring. Anchorage may be home base for your trip, but adventure is everywhere. For an unforgettable couple of days, head to Denali National Park and see Mt. McKinley (the tallest mountain in North America). Really, you could spend an entire summer here – there are thousands of openings every summer for Alaska jobs.

San Francisco

You might expect cool temperatures for a place that calls itself The City by the Bay, and you’d be right. For many, San Francisco provides a wonderful vacation in a city with a seemingly endless list of things to see and do. Here are just a few:
- Chinatown
- Golden Gate Bridge
- Alcatraz
- San Francisco Zoo
- Wine Tasting

Vancouver

Vancouver sees less snow than most Canadian cities, but its summers also remain cooler. Combine these temperatures with a world-class city, and you’ll find plenty to do. Canada Day is July 1st and Vancouver celebrates in style across the city. Even better might be the Celebration of Light, a famous Vancouver festival that features a musical fireworks competition between different countries.

Edmonton

Even if it’s warm outside, it’ll be cool in the West Edmonton Mall. True story: My family once vacationed in the mall for three days – there’s a hotel in the mall – experiencing the amusement park and water park. Elsewhere is Fort Edmonton Park, which is the largest living history museum in Canada, and a long list of annual festivals.
