New York fashion week showcased the hottest look in female fashions coming in 2013. With the winter nights and wooly jumpers drawing near, here are the colourful prints and patterns that you can expect to be brightening up your Spring/Summer wardrobe in 2013.
Cool water trend
The water has been a great inspiration to catwalk designer’s Spring/Summer prints. From pictures at the seaside incorporated in prints to various shades of blue, white and the ripple effect pattern of water, it looks like you will be showing off your cool side in 2013. Designer Charlotte Ronson said that water was the main focal point of her Spring/Summer 2013 collection. The palette for this fashion trend incorporates blues, sandy beach tones and sea greens to ethereal pearly shimmers; the cool water trend will definitely leave you wanting a dip in the pool.
Stripes
From horizontal lines to zig zags, pinstripes and curved lines, stripes were a big hit at New York fashion week. Marc Jacobs incorporated a lot of stripes in his Spring/Summer 2013 collection and it definitely stood out on the catwalk. From monochrome black and white to something more contemporary with a sixties twist there are lots of ways to rock this look. Tommy Hilfiger had their own take on the trend with stripes made up from polka dots instead of straight lines and Michael Kors opted for stripes at different thicknesses to mix it up a bit.
Return of the Crop Top
Reinventing itself each Spring/Summer season, the crop top has once again returned to the catwalk but this time it has been modernised to flash less flesh. Many will be happy to hear the traditional crop top has been lengthened into a peek-a-boo midriff flasher. Designers at New York Fashion week were showcasing just a hint on stomach in-between high-waisted fitted pencil skirts and matching tops or cut out dresses.
White cut out patterns
Alexander Wang’s styles hit the New York catwalks with crisp whites and sharp cut out lines and patterns. Incorporating knit overlays for dresses and transparent patches of material and cut out shoulders and necklines, this trend is the chic way to whiten up your wardrobe for Spring/Summer 2013; the perfect way to show off those summer tans!
Sheer Delight
Want to seductively show off some skin without flashing too much flesh? Then the sheer delight trend will be for you. See through sophisticated numbers were dominant on the catwalks at New York Fashion week. Feminine frills, lace, silk and layers add texture and dimensions to this trend. Sexily baring all the correct areas of skin.
50 shades
The novel ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ has been rocking the world of many women and in 2013 it looks set to take over your wardrobe. At New York fashion week there were a lot of S&M inspired designs being showcased down the runway. Using predominantly a black and white palette and oozing eroticism with leather harnesses, corsets and lace turning you into a femme fatale. Herve Ledge embodied the 50 shades style perfectly by fusing together their famous bandage – or should we say bondage – dress complete with its own leather harness: Sex up your Spring/Summer 2013 with this domineering trend!
