Travel: Winter Escape to the UK

A lot of people who go on vacation are often deterred from going out and exploring when the weather’s taken a turn for the worse. While there’s nothing more disappointing than rain, high winds or even snow during a holiday, there’s no reason you can’t still go out and do something. The UK’s climate is unpredictable at the best of times, but if, say, you decide to stay in a luxury cottage in Wales with wales-cottages.info, there are still plenty of fun indoor activities to take part in. If you’re anywhere in the UK, there’s plenty of things to do without being stopped by the elements. For example, if you choose to stay in Wales, you could go shopping in Cardiff or Swansea, visit one of the principality’s many museums, or if you want to do so something more adventurous, there’s always the possibility of visiting an indoor rock climbing centre, as there are plenty dotted around the country. Meanwhile, the Peak District in central England is close to the big cities of Manchester and Sheffield, both of which have a number of great indoor attractions, and not just shopping at the Trafford and Meadowhall centres. Manchester is home to two big football (soccer) teams while Sheffield has an impressive art gallery and the Crucible Theatre to its name, where you can see plays by some of the world’s most famous playwrights. London, Leeds, York, Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh are just as great for indoor attractions, with a variety of landmarks, cultural venues and top-class restaurants to their name, while there are plenty of great holiday cottages in surrounding areas like the Yorkshire Dales and the Scottish Borders. If you’ve always wanted to visit the UK but had reservations about the climate, there’s nothing stopping you as there’s plenty to do where you’re away from torrential rain and those winter snow drifts.
