/ Travel Photos / CC BY-NC-SATouring in luxury takes many forms and personal preference is the most persuasive means for deciding just which way to go. Luxury touring is not only a matter of means but also personal taste and leisure. All the luxury imaginable is for naught if the tourist is not comfortable or enjoying the experience.
1. Luxury Travel By Sea
Of course, the most well-known means of luxury travel is the ocean voyage. Cruise ships offer various levels of luxury from the tourist to first class. Ocean voyaging can be both a means of reaching a destination or traveling on vacation returning to the same port. Ocean cruise ships offer fine dining, meticulously appointed cabins with balconies or large suites with personal stewards to answer any concern. The luxury traveler, however, should also consider the cruise ship’s market appeal when choosing the optimum cruise experience. Some cruise ships appeal to the family and have a more carnival/children oriented atmosphere while others cater to more discerning clientele looking for both leisure and comfort. Check with travel agents for the best recommendation when going on an ocean voyage to suit any particular requirements.
2. Luxury Travel By Rail
Railroads are offering extended sojourns in the finest tradition of train travel. Pullman-style cars with cabins or small suites, exquisite dining and on-board entertainment can make the trip both a relaxing and invigorating trip. Although most luxury rail journeys are tourist oriented (as opposed to scheduled destination stops), the itineraries available offer a variety of scenic vistas and memorable experiences. Luxury trains travel to all corners of the world and can be booked through either travel agents or online with the tour operator.
3. Luxury Travel By Coach
A growing trend with luxury travel is the motor coach. These specialty motor coaches (constructed on bus-type chassis) can provide both luxury and convenience for the modern traveler. The luxury motor coach offers completely entertainment centers with large screen televisions, stereos, total remote control for all accessories and large storage capacity. These coaches are often divided into several rooms with master suites, full baths and wonderfully appointed and decorated sitting areas. The coach driver can also have additional duties as a steward and cook when visiting various destinations.
4. Luxury Travel By Car
Going down the road in a luxury automobile is an experience of a lifetime. Whether driving a coupe or convertible, these vehicles offer fabulous features for all occupants. Well-engineered drive trains and suspensions offer a ride without equal for long stretches of highway while producing little fatigue or weariness. Travelers can partake of on-board refreshments as some luxury touring cars offer everything from wine coolers to even small refrigerators! With fully adjustable seating, handling and climate control, touring in a luxury automobile allows the traveler to not only experience the countryside but do so in optimum comfort.
5. Luxury Travel By Air
More airlines are offering total relaxation options for travelers in first class accommodations. Features ranging from reclining lounges to full sleeping cabins make traveling by air a grand adventure. Additionally, smaller “private planes” offer amenities comparable to the finest staterooms in the grandest hotels. Going from point to point at 600 miles an hour allows the traveler to spend more time at various destinations while thoroughly enjoying the comparably short travel time.
