Travel: Ice Skate on Pink Ice at Boca Raton Resort & Club

Sun, surf and skate through the holidays at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort. Not only can guests surf the waves at Boca Beach Club’s new Surf School, but this winter guests can put on a pair of skates and glide into a distinctly South Florida winter wonderland on a new pink ice skating rink. Open from November 1, 2013 through January 1, 2014, the introduction of the Pink Rink will kick off the resort’s holiday season, from family events and entertainment to ice skating and fireworks.

A tribute to the historic resort as a pink landmark in South Florida, the Pink Rink is a real ice skating rink with “pink” ice. Measuring eighty five feet by forty feet, the ice rink will comfortably accommodate up to 100 skaters for day and evening hours of open skating, group skating lessons and weekend and holiday figure-skating camps. A portion of the proceeds will go to American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

In addition, skating enthusiasts and first-time skaters will have the chance to meet World Professional Ice Skating Pair Champions Frank Sweiding and Anita Hartshorn. The former figure skating champions will take to the ice to perform figure skating demonstrations and holiday ice shows throughout the season. An ensemble from Lynn University Conservatory of Music will provide the soundtrack for a special holiday performance on November 15 and December 1.

Additional season highlights include an annual Holiday Boat Parade with fireworks, a special appearance by our Random House storybook costumed characters at a family holiday breakfast, beach bonfires and a New Year’s Eve block party with kids carnival and a line up of live entertainment.
