There are many beautiful tropical locations around the globe. While so many people flock to the Caribbean to enjoy white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters, other areas are on the verge of extinction.

The Maldives is one such place that may not be around longer. It is believed that by 2050, the tropical island chain will be mostly submerged as it’s slowly being consumed by the Indian Ocean. What makes this such a worthwhile venture to take to children to?

Eyewitness – Many of us take for granted the different areas we can visit. Often times, adults will put off visiting a specific locale because it will be there “next year.” Unfortunately, the rising sea levels are making sure that the next year may be the last. We know that the Grand Canyon will always be there to visit. Cruises to Alaska will continue to run for decades to come.

However, will you remember the beaches and marine life of the Maldives once it has been annihilated by the ocean? Will your children have memories of a wondrous island resort that no longer exists?

Under the Sea – Forget Disney’s “Little Mermaid” as you and your family can stay in an underwater hotel. The Conrad resort on Rangali Island can allow you and your family to live as the people may by the turn of the century. With rooms and restaurants underwater, you are provided with a unique aspect of dining as marine life swim above you. The waters are so incredibly clear that you can see great distances and appreciate the marine life more than you would have otherwise.

In the Maldives, the five-star Lux resort is incredibly child-friendly. Complete with kid’s menus for dining, gaming consoles, protected areas for swimming, kiddie clubhouses and more, this resort brings a level of luxury for children to the tropical paradise that not many can compete with. As it’s near one of the most engaging scuba diving locations on the planet, your children will develop memories to last them a lifetime.

The Maldives is more than merely majestic beaches and unbelievable sea waters. It’s also home to a great deal of marine life that may not be available to witness in your area. Some of the most colorful fish and coral seen on the planet make this location home. You could demonstrate to your children the beauty of the planet’s oceans as intensely decorated life is prevalent. From the aging turtles swimming about to the dolphins that seem to appear out of nowhere, you could spend a lifetime examining all of the available species that are at the Maldives.

Some of the available water areas for children are more exotic than what they may have witnessed previously. Although there is an ocean outside your door, safe areas are plentiful in the Maldives for children to run and swim through. Water tubes, vast swimming pools, waterfalls and more decorate some of these water parks in order to engage the child’s imagination and provide a great deal of entertainment in this tropical wonderland.

Although some are skeptical that the Maldives will be consumed by the ocean in the near future, it’s hard to argue against facts that levels are indeed rising – and they’re rising at an increased rate. As the Maldives are considered one of the lowest elevation nations on the planet, it’s hard to dismiss that there may be a bit of flooding in the near future. Allow your children to witness this majestic location for themselves. Even if the island chain survives, it’s still an incredibly glorious place to visit.

Lovely post. But hard to believe that the Maldives could actually be under water over the next few decades. It’s an absolute gem of a place.
