POP International Galleries, in conjunction with the Revolver Gallery, is pleased to announce the debut of ANDY WARHOL: At Face Value in New York City.
The brilliantly curated show will feature a collection of works from the legendary New York artist at Pop International’s SoHo location, with POP hosting the opening reception on Monday, November 10th and a selection hanging concurrently at POP’s Midtown location in the Citicorp Building. Founded in 1997 by Jeff Jaffe, Pop International Galleries – aka “The Pop Gallery” – is an exciting art gallery on West Broadway in the heart of SoHo, in New York City. Pop International specializes in Pop Art, Urban Art and art and photography that is derived from, or influenced by, popular culture.
Warhol fans and collectors alike will also have the opportunity to view and purchase over 50 of the classic pieces, including famed pieces “Muhammad Ali” and “Marilyn”. POP SoHo will house the works, which are some of the most influential figures in contemporary art and culture, for a limited time only, with the collection open to the public on Tuesday, November 11.
“This comprehensive print collection is both an art collector’s dream and an art history lesson”, said Jeff Jaffe, owner and founder of Pop International Galleries. “We are thrilled to be working with the Revolver Gallery to be able to bring this timeless and wonderful body of art to New York City from where it emanated and where in essence it still belongs in many ways.”
The Revolver Gallery boasts one of the largest print inventories of Warhol artwork. POP International is excited to bring Revolver’s collection to its new home in the city that inspired most of Andy’s career. Works to be featured will include prints of the famous Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Muhammad Ali, Truman Capote, Mao and the Campbell’s Soup Cans. Also featured for sale at the exhibition are some of Andy Warhol’s much coveted personal Polaroids, which were recently featured by Digital Trends and PopPhoto.com.
“I’d like to think that the spirit of Andy Warhol exists and that it exists in the city he loved so much, New York City. I’m excited to be teaming up with POP International for an exhibition which is arguably the biggest display of Warhol prints in a gallery setting in the country. With over 50 prolific works on display, I believe that collectors, enthusiasts, and critics will surely find this collection most impressive,” said Ron Rivlin, owner, Revolver Gallery.
Andy Warhol was one of the 20th century’s most influential artists and cultural critics. As one of the key players in the POP art movement, he developed his own method of screen-printing in the early 1960s, and it wasn’t long before he was creating groundbreaking works that brought attention to American pop culture and the lifestyle of Hollywood celebrities, changing how we look at art – and ourselves – forever.
