The Komansky Center for Children’s Health at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell’s fifth annual Plates for Pediatrics benefit raised a record $1 million to support the center’s children’s programs. Georgina Chapman and Harvey Weinstein attended as the sold-out event’s Honorary Chairs.
Sponsored by Tiffany & Co., the benefit drew 520 attendees to the Mandarin Oriental New York on January 29.
The benefit, hosted by Dr. Gerald Loughlin, Pediatrician-in-Chief at the Komansky Center for Children’s Health at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, along with the Pediatric Support Committee and the Children’s Advisory Council, raised funds for several children’s programs: Child Life Services, a program that alleviates children’s fears surrounding the hospital experience; the Pediatric Simulation Center, an invaluable teaching resource in medical education, which ultimately reduces medical errors, creates a culture of patient safety, and improves patient care and the care of newborns;The Perinatal Center, which provides a multi-disciplinary approach to counseling women facing complex fetal diagnoses by coordinating a team-care meeting with the patient, her partner, her obstetrician, and the pertinent specialists involved in her care; and the Residency Education Program, a three-year pediatric residency program designed to provide a supportive and educationally rich environment through which residents can develop into outstanding general pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists.
