Gorgeous Port Douglas

A picturesque seaside village, set alongside the spectacular Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas is known as one of the most beautiful world’s unique and environmentally rich destinations.

Where exactly is Port Douglas located?

Port Douglas is located in Tropical North Queensland, Australia and it sits 70km north of Cairns Airport, which makes for approximately 1-hour drive along a spectacular scenic drive called the Great Barrier Reef Drive.

Our suggestion: Jump on a coach transfer so you can enjoy the view; the coaches will take you directly to your accommodation as they meet every flight into the airport. If you are one to go for the arrival in style, book a limousine or heli transfer – it’s a perfect way to start your luxury Port Douglas holiday.

Is there something fun to do there?

Plenty! This area is known for its magnificent range of attractions, tours and activities to suit all visitors and tastes. Stroll down the Macrossan Street among the village galleries, shops, historic buildings, soak up the sunshine on Four Mile Beach, explore the seaside Port Douglas Sunday market and enjoy nature and wildlife tours. It’s so easy to get engaged in Port Douglas as it offers so many options to its tourists! Visit a rainforest wildlife center, play a round of golf, dine on a delicious tropical dinner at one of the many fine restaurants or relax over sun downer drinks at a boardwalk café.

What would you single out as best?

Now, that’s a tough one! Depending on the tastes, you can honestly find a plentitude of activities for all tastes, but if we really had to choose, these would be our favorite things to do:

Great barrier reef sailing and snorkeling cruise

So, what are you to expect here? You’ll be setting sail from Port Douglas for a day of relaxing on the Great Barrier Reef’s Low Isles followed by the amazing snorkeling sessions. Surrounded by tropical waters filled with fish, turtles and coral, the sheltered white sands are a real thrill to walk on – it’s like walking on clouds! The cruises are organized on (almost) daily basis and they are often limited to 33 passengers. That way, a good company is ensured and a helping hand from the crew is always available. You’ll have a buffet lunch included, and a reef interpretation sail with an expert marine biologist as your guide. And the boat you’ll be in? It has a glass bottom!

The scenic helicopter tour and cruise

A scenic helicopter flight or high-speed catamaran cruise will take you from Port Douglas to the Outer Barrier Reef platform on Agincourt Reef. We suggest you explore the reef snorkeling from the underwater observatory or the semi-submersible submarine. To spice things up, travel by scenic helicopter one way and cruise by high-speed catamaran the other. It will be amazing because you’ll get to glance at all the wonderful Port Douglas hotels (maybe even decide to book a room for a few days and get a closer experience), catch some of the Port’s wildlife and the amazing nature and enjoy the splendid scenery of the whole area!

Stroll down Four Mile Beach

Every year, Four Mile Beach finds its place on Australia’s ‘Best Beach’ list which makes it a pretty good reason to visit it, right? If you’re not convinced by some mag reviews, give it a look – believe it or not, the 4 miles of beach is unspoiled by any man-made structures and is simply stunning to stroll sunrise to sunset. You’ll seriously miss out if you don’t visit it!

Nature & wildlife tours

Now this one is yet another must! We can’t even begin naming all the animals and species living here, it’s just something you have to see for yourself – and hopefully, you will!

Whenever you decide to go to Port Douglas, you can’t go wrong – Port’s warm, balmy climate attracts visitors at any time of the year and it makes for a perfect destination in every sense of that word. Enjoy!
