On September 29th, 2014 a private viewing of ‘Charles James: Beneath the Dress‘ at The National Arts Club was held 6pm and 8pm at The National Arts Club in Gramercy Park.
Hosted by Cornelia Guest, Amanda Hearst, Anne Hearst McInerney, Patricia Hearst Shaw, Gillian Hearst Simonds and Kimberly Rockefeller, the evening celebrated the opening of the free weeklong exhibition.
Guests sipped champagne and nibbled on small bites while live music played. The exhibition shows 80 of James’ never-before-seen drawings from the collection of R. Couri Hay, a short film utilizing rare footage from Anton Perich and Hay’s 1970’s documentary of interviews with James, and a selection of vintage photographs taken by Anton Perich.
‘Charles James: Beneath the Dress’ provides new insight into the man widely acknowledged as America’s Greatest Courtier.
