4 Cities in France You Should Visit

More than 80 million people visit France every single year! Think about that number, it’s incredible. They come from all over the world, and they come for a reason. France is a country of great variation. It has beautiful coastlines, tranquil countryside and some of the most busy and metropolitan cities in the world. As well as this, it has a world-renowned culture that attracts a great many people.

It’s a pretty big country too though, and there’s a lot to see. For me, the best way to fully experience the country is to hop from city to city and see as much of France and its variations as you possibly can.

Nice

Nice is located on the south coast of France and is known for the incredible weather it gets. If you immediately think of Spain or Portugal when you think about a summer holiday in the sun, don’t forget about what the South of France can offer.

Its sweeping coastline provides visitors with some of the most impressive views in Europe. Especially if you take a trip up the hills and look at Nice from all the way up at the top. There are also a lot of great churches for you to visit if you want something a bit more grown up and cultural to do in between your sunbathing sessions.

Paris

Who doesn’t love Paris? It’s France’s capital and the ancient city of love. You can spend hours in quaint Parisian cafes or sitting on the banks of the Seine watching the boats go by. Alternatively, you can go to the top of the Eiffel Tower and work your way around the hundreds of art galleries and museums in the city.

One of the biggest concerns for people, when they visit Paris, is about how much it will cost them. There’s no denying it; Paris is an expensive city. The galleries are mostly free though, and you could get a short let in Paris relatively cheaply.

Marseille

Marseille is France’s second largest city and one of the oldest on the continent. It’s been a port city for hundreds of years and remains so to this day. The climate is fantastic, and the architecture is breathtaking. Those are just two of the reasons why Marseille is so popular with tourists.

One of the best things about the city is the food. Being a port city, it has so much incredible seafood as well as fresh imports from all over the world. You can get lost (as well as fat) trying all the great food offered by Marseille’s restaurants.

Lourdes

Lourdes is fascinating, there has even been a movie made about it! Millions of people travel to Lourdes each year. And that’s largely down to the religious pilgrims who make the journey.
Apparitions of The Virgin Mary are said to have appeared in Lourdes in the 19th century. It’s said to have happened 18 times in total, and the appearances earned her the name of ‘Our Lady of Lourdes’. The town itself is beautiful too, with its position near the Spanish border making it a great pull for both pilgrims and tourists.
