If you are a cyclist, you would know that there can be nothing better than a perfect route to cycle and spend your weekend. Your bike is a healthy and fun option to spend time exploring the beauty of nature. These are some routes which are on most cyclists’ dream list and you should explore them as well –

  1. Otago Peninsula, New Zealand – This is the perfect ride to have because you can enjoy the calm and smooth first half of it and really sweat it out in the second half. It starts with Dunedin’s city mazes and then escape into the open roads. The terrain is made for cycling but there are many curves along the road. You will have an excellent view of the ocean. It’s best if you prepare yourself for climbs that are very steep and descents that would be fast.
  2. Cape Breton Island, Canada – This is a pretty famous route for cyclists and that is mainly because of the picturesque scenery. The lovely blue of the Bras d’Or sea and the coastlines make it a joy to cycle. Also, if you are one of those people who like adventure cycling, there are some pretty difficult climbs and racy descents when you leave the hills and reach the mountains. There is also a lot for you if you’d like to explore the Gaelic culture and the village.
  3. Isle of Wight, England – It is all of UK’s great terrain rolled into one route and a treat for a cyclist. If you want hills meeting the seas, you have it here. If you like hedgerows that dot narrow lanes and gullies, it has that too. But the best feature, perhaps, is on the breadth where there are white cliffs that take your breath away. For Londoners who want a weekend away from the running humdrum of city life, this could be the perfect getaway for you and your loved one.
  4. Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy – Many people forget about this beautiful corner of northeast Italy but if you get the chance to explore it then go for it. There are fields tended by farmers and vines snaking on the hills when you cycle through them. There is fresh breeze and the fragrance of nature all around you and frankly, what more can you want. Go to a piazza in the evening for white wine tasting and finish it up with the Istrian coast.
  5. San Juan Islands, Washington – You are introduced to the beautiful island by a ferry from Anacortes or Seattle. Expect beautiful but quiet coves and roads, the shorelines have lush greenery. You have three islands to traverse – San Juan, Lopez and Orcas and they are all unique and amazing in their own respect. You will experience a hilly terrain but the ride can be finished in a day and you can even stop to watch the sea lions, seals, eagles or the orca.
