No matter where you live or where you’re from, everyone seems to have one goal in mind when the summer heat kicks in: to have a good time. Summer usually runs parallel to soaking up rays, drinking cold beer, and listening to good tunes. That being said, let’s take a look at some hip and popping music festivals that are taking place this summer. These events are sure to get you and your friends up on your feet, no matter what kind of genre of music you prefer to listen to.

Rock Werchter Festival

One of the top five biggest music festivals in all of Europe, this event takes place in Belgium from July 4th until July 7th. Noted as being one of the biggest and best festivals in the world, different bands i.e. Green Day, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Script, and more can be heard during this four-day affair. Conveniently, there are motels, hotels, and B&B’s in the surrounding Werchter area, willing to offer great accommodations. On-site camping is also available if you just don’t want to take a chance at missing any of the fun or action. Tickets can be booked here.

Rock En Seine Festival

Are you busy from August 23rd to the 25th? Taking place on the banks of the river in Paris, this festival offers international acts and crowds that come out in masses that are looking to have a good time. The entertainment line up, so far, includes: System of a Down, Phoenix, and more. Unfortunately, onsite camping is available, but it’s already sold out.

Rock Am Ring/Rock Im Park Festivals

Taking place from June 7th to June 9th in Germany, two names are mentioned because there are two festivals. Full of rock and metal tunes, it’s only necessary to attend one of these festivals, as the lineups are identical. Take advantage of onsite camping while you’re rocking out to bands like Papa Roach, Stone Sour, and Bush. Not a fan of camping? There is no need to fear; there are plenty of accommodating hot spots near by. You can even travel by plane or train!

Sziget Festival

Want to visit Hungary from August 5th to the 12th? If you said, “yes,” then make sure you check out this massive rock and arts festival that attracts hundreds of thousands of people. This is a weeklong event, with music genres ranging from rock and pop, to metal and jazz, and even to blues and alternative tunes. If you enjoy camping, then you’re in luck. Sziget is also an awesome choice for non-rockers and non-campers as the palette is endless.

Pinkpop Festival

You might want to travel to the Netherlands during June 14th to the 16th. This longest running organized music festival will be showcasing different bands, such as: The Opposites, Jimmy Eat World, The Script, and more. Fly to the Netherlands and camp onsite, so as not to miss a single minute of this huge, three-day event!

What Else Could You Possibly Need?

To say these events are huge is an understatement. Therefore, you won’t want to carry anything too valuable. Cameras? No. Cell phones and sunglasses? Of course, but go the cheap route or make sure these items are completely secure. Also, it might be a good idea to wear close-toed shoes. With thousands of people stomping around, the last thing you want is for those little piggies to get smashed. Ladies might also want to carry a small purse or bag to hold different items in i.e. keys, cell phones, wallets, etc.

This year, enjoy summer like it was meant to be enjoyed, with loud music, cold beer, and big crowds. Whether you decide to camp on site or find a cheap hotel nearby, you are sure to have a blast listening to your favorite bands with your best friends.
