Every four years, the FIFA World Cup brings together 32 countries to compete on soccer’s biggest stage. This year’s World Cup will be taking place from June 12, 2014 to July 13, 2014 in Brazil and those vacationing at Paradisus Resorts (with five properties in Mexico and the Dominican Republic) won’t have to be far from the action. Whether an avid fan or a leisurely spectator, guests will have the opportunity to watch their favorite teams go head-to-head as all of the Paradisus Resorts properties will be hosting viewing parties and various World Cup-themed activities and giveaways.

“With our roots in Spain, Melia Hotels International is passionate about closely following the game of soccer, and on a personal level, I’m thrilled we are able to bring this summer’s World Cup action to our Paradisus guests,” said Anthony Cortizas, Vice President of Global Brand Strategy at Melia Hotels International.  “This beloved worldwide event brings together people from all over the globe and we hope our guests will enjoy the exciting activities and viewing parties we have lined up for the month.”

To kick off the month-long soccer tournament, Paradisus Playa del Carmen, Paradisus Palma Real and Paradisus Punta Cana will be hosting grand opening ceremony parties where guests can view the ceremonies along with special entertainment and surprises.  At Paradisus Playa del Carmen and Paradisus Cancun, matches will be streamed in the properties’ Gabi Clubs and Red Lounges allowing guests to take in the action on two large screens set up within each area, while Paradisus Palma Real and Paradisus Punta Cana will offer opportunities for guests to view the games at their Lobby Bars as well as their new and expansive convention center.  Various halftime activities will be offered at different resorts, with games ranging from World Cup trivia and relay passes to mini soccer, and featuring exclusive Paradisus prizes being awarded to participants.

Paradisus Cancun will also be streaming all games and offering amusing halftime activities for all guests.  Paradisus-branded soccer balls and Team Mexico jerseys will be given as prizes, while guests can indulge in delicious themed snacks, such as strawberry desserts decorated as soccer balls.

All of the Paradisus Resorts properties will be decorated with flags of the world and the staff will be wearing their favorite team’s jerseys.  The resorts will boast exciting Brazilian-inspired events including BatucadaFlear and Capoeira performances taking place by the pools, as well as Samba shows at Avenue Bars.  With so many special events being offered, resort guests and staff alike will have plenty of options to celebrate the excitement around the FIFA World Cup.www.paradisus.com
